Garnock welcomed West of Scotland to Lochshore with the visitors seeking to join the title race and the home side desperate for points at the other end of the table
The game kicked off in decent overhead and underfoot conditions. For the majority of the first half Garnock were unable to keep possession of the ball for any sustained periods and therefore were unable to apply any real pressure on the visitors. Conversely West turned their possession into territorial gains and resultant points. By half time the visitors had scored two good tries to take a 12-0 lead at the break.
The early part of the second half followed in similar fashion to the first with West in control. They added two further tries to extend their lead to 26-0. It was only at this point that the home side began to put some regular phases together.
With 15 minutes to go Garnock were attacking in the West 22 when following a couple of forward efforts the ball was released to the backs and full-back Aaron Purewal carved through to score. 7-26
West continued to attack when possible however with 8 minutes left centre Sefo Turaga intercepted a loose West pass on the home 10 metre line and outpaced the visitors defence to go the length. 14-26
Garnock were now seeking a further score to test the nerve of the visitors. For the final minutes Garnock had the majority of possession in the West red zone. Unfortunately resolute defence kept Garnock at bay and the match finished 14-26
