On a bitterly cold November day Garnock made the journey east to face Lasswade in a Nat 3 league fixture. A late morning call off resulted in a backline reshuffle with young debutant Marcus Sinclair taking a place on the wing .
Lasswade opened the scoring after only 5 minutes following a number of phases in the Garnock 22. they used their backs to good effect scoring out wide. Conv missed 5-0
Garnock began to come into the game through both backs and forwards however their efforts were thwarted by strong defence from the home team. The visitors were eventually awarded a penalty 30 metres out which Keir Walker converted 5-3
From the restart Garnock conceded a penalty which Lasswade kicked to the corner. The visitors were able to repel the resultant catch and drive and were awarded a scrum. Unfortunately the pass from the base was dropped over the Garnock line allowing the home No8 to simply fall on the ball for a very soft score. Conv good 12-3
By the midpoint in the half the game was evenly contested with both defences on top. Garnock converted a further penalty taking the score to 12-6. On a rare visit to opposition 22 by either team Lasswade were able to build some pressure. Pooer defence around the fringes of a ruck allowed the home side to breach the defensive line and score . Conv good 19-6
With time in the half running out Garnock converted a further penalty taking the score at the break to 19-9. Despite the 10 point difference this remained a game which could go either way and the first points in the second half were likely to prove crucial
Much to the delight of the home support Lasswade added to their tally after 50 minutes. Poor defence by the visitors allowed the lively Lasswade winger to weave across the pitch breaking a number of tackles to score. Conv good 26-9
The game remained evenly contested with neither pack able to gain dominance. With 15 minutes to go Garnock worked their way into the home 22. From an attacking lineout they set up a strong maul which resulted in Matthew Shiells going over the line . Conv wide 26-14
As time began to run out Garnock were searching for another score to try and take at least one league point from the game. For the final few minutes Garnock were camped in the home 22 with the home side conceding numerous penalties before a scrappy knock on from Garnock brought the game to a close.
This was a disappointing defeat for the visitors with a number of individual errors proving costly
