In their final fixture of the season Garnock made the long trip north to face Aberdeen Grammar. Due to numerous injuries and unavailability Garnock travelled with an unfamiliar squad . Indeed the starting fifteen included six front row players and not all of them in the pack !
On a positive note the absences allowed the debut of 18 year Louis Docherty on the wing. The youngster was impressive in his first senior outing before a concussion after 30 minutes unfortunately forced his removal from the pitch.
The final scoreline of 59-24 did not truly reflect the game with Garnock scoring some fine tries and showing up well in the forward exchanges. The Garnock try scorers were Joe Chapman, Matt Shiells (2) and Kyle Miller. The final try from full-back Miller was undoubtedly the pick of the day with the novice full-back breaking the line on half way before selling an outrageous dummy to the final defender. two of the tries were converted by young scrum-half Harley Kearney in another fine performance from the young man.
There were a number of positives to be taken from the game including the fine debut from Louis Docherty, the return from long term injury of Lewis McGeachy and the continued impressive form of young Harley Kearney.
